Labyrinth
Besides the splash pad, Barnett Family Park in Orange Lakeland Florida also boasts a labyrinth. The tidbit is that it is actually the first of its kind in the state.
This five circuit square labyrinth was inspired by the labyrinth in France. It is made up of two-toned pavers and two tons of rocks to outline the path. It’s not too difficult to find. There’s also a small parking lot just north of the park at 121 S Lake Avenue. The park also boasts an interactive exhibit, a splash pad, a multipurpose field, and restrooms. Besides the labyrinth, Barnett Family Park is a great place to take your kids for a picnic or to let them play on the sunflower preschool playground.
The labyrinth at Barnett Family Park in Orange Lakeland is the city’s only labyrinth, and it’s a great way to spend some quality family time together. It’s a short walk from the Lake Mirror Amphitheater and close to Hollis Gardens.
Playground
Located alongside Downtown Lake Mirror’s Amphitheater, Barnett Family Park offers a wide variety of play equipment. From an oversized sand box to a splash pad, this playground is perfect for families looking for a little extra fun.
The Sunflower Preschool Playground was designed for children between the ages of three and five. The playground features multi-colored Playground Grass to provide safety and color for the kids. It’s a nice example of innovation, as well as safety. It was built in memory of John Kyle Vreeland Jr. whose grandmother spearheaded fund raising for the project.
The Hollis Garden features neo-classical architecture and topiaries. It also has an ornamental fountain and patterned flower beds. It also has a nice little cafe that overlooks the lawn. The garden features speakers playing classical music.
Covered picnic area
Located next to Hollis Gardens, Barnett Family Park is a great place to bring the family. It features a splash pad, a playground, a picnic area, and lakes. It also offers a dog park, restrooms, and basketball courts. It is also a great place to learn about the citrus history of the area.
Barnett Family Park was opened in December 2004. It is named for the couple that owns it, Carol and Barney Barnett. It contains several hundred acres of land with lakes, green space, woodlands, and playgrounds. The park is also home to a dog park and a splash pad.
Visitors can enjoy a self-guided walking tour called Trailblazers Citrus Trail. This route takes tourists through the downtown area and offers information on the local orange growers who have been in the area for generations. A great post!

Located just a block from the Lake Mirror Amphitheater, Barnett Family Park is the epitome of a family friendly park. The park features a splash pad, multipurpose field and two playground areas. It’s also got a very nice labyrinth to boot. And there are plenty of parking spaces, even along Orange Street, which is just a block from the park. The park also includes a very impressive sand box if you’re a kid at heart.
In addition to the splash pad, Barnett Family Park also features a Sunflower Preschool Playground with small-sized equipment. This is the first time I’ve seen such a thing. If you’re looking for the best way to cool off after a day of sports or the kids’ birthday, this is the place to do it.
World of Reading Festival
Presented by the Junior League of Greater Lakeland, the World of Reading Festival is a family-friendly event that is FREE and open to the public. Attendees can meet authors, get free books, enjoy snacks, crafts, and face painters, and participate in a book signing. During the event, the featured authors will read from their books twice. They will also be available to sign books, meet and greet attendees, and answer questions.
For the entire family, there are several activities to choose from, including a Kids Day Camp, an Unlimited Jazz concert, and a European Wine Dinner. Children’s storybook tents will be available for kids to explore. This year’s event features authors including Amanda Green, Diligent Derek, Jack Prelutsky, Laura Numeroff, and Maurice Sendak.
For a date night, try the Couples Cooking Class, which includes a Korean-style stuffed pancake dinner. In addition to cooking classes, there will be a food truck rally and a wine tasting. Guests will also be able to sample food from over 100 vendors. Click for more info!
